Garmin GNS 480 GPS NAV/COM – Part #: 430-6100-800-002

Condition

This Garmin GNS 480 GPS NAV/COM was removed from service during an avionics upgrade by an FAA repair station. The unit appears to have been properly maintained and includes a yellow tag and accompanying paperwork (see photos for details).

Testing

• The unit powers up successfully, and the internal fans operate screen as expected.
• Built-in ground maintenance tests for the buttons and screen indicate normal functionality.
• An ELT was used to test the receiver and audio, and both seem to function correctly (see included video).
• Transmitter testing was NOT performed as a dummy load / proper antenna was unavailable to avoid damaging the transmitter.
• SW 2.40.00 and GPS Engine SW 5.10 (See Photos)
  

Note: The mounting bracket and mapping software card shown in the photos are NOT included. These were used only to demonstrate the unit powering up and operational status.

Important Notes

• The main control knob has a small portion of its hard plastic missing (see photos).
• I am not the original owner and cannot verify the complete history of this unit.
• The unit will require current map data and certification by an FAA-licensed radio shop to be airworthy.
