This is a DYI (do it yourself) LED display replacement for King KY196A 197A COM radios & Power cable harness
DYI installation involves no modifications to your KY196A 197A com radios. All you have to do is pull the old display out from its socket, and then plug the new LED display into its place. And then connect the two power wires (long red wire and a short black with ring connector) to correct locations.

For installation, you will need a soldering iron, solder, phillips screw driver.
This LED display will NOT work for KY196, KY197, KY96A, KY97A radios.
The KY196A radio in the picture is NOT included in sale – it is for demonstration purpose only.
This LED display is custom designed and has not been through any FAA certifications. It is mainly intended for experimental, none-airborne radios and some private aircraft owners and individuals who want to exercise ownership and would like to work on their own aircraft. If you would like to install it in a registered aircraft, we strongly suggest you check with proper authority first.
Power cable harness for King KY196A / KY197A
This power cable harness allows you to power up KY196A / 197A radios using a DC power supply on the bench. This is a very handy harness that enables you to check the LED display that you have just installed if it is working properly before you put the KY196A /197A radio back into the aircraft. This hardness is also very useful in troubleshooting if needed.
All you have to do is plug the black socket into the edge connector of the KY196A 197A radio on the back side. And then connect the red banana connector into the red socket of the DC power supply and black banana connector to black socket.
The DC power supplies are readily available online, Ebay, Amazon or local electronics stores, and they are not expensive.
The KY196A radio and the variable DC power supply in the picture are not included in sale – they are for demonstration purpose only.
Never set the DC supply voltage higher than the radio voltage. If so, the radio may end up damaged.
CAUTION
This power cable harness will let you
only power up the KY196A 197A radio. You will not be able to receive
or transmit.
