I think most of you are like me, and not looking for a working rate gyro
for your aircraft. I collect interesting
gyros and avionics. This one is without
its case, so you can see what is inside.
It is a great collectable, and will make a nice display or a desk toy for
that guy who has everything.
This Bendix-King KRG 331 Rate Gyro is an aircraft
avionics component—specifically part of an autopilot / flight control system.
Its main job is part of what pilots call a yaw damper.
It was used to help an airplane stay stable and
coordinated in flight, especially side-to-side.
The KRG-331 is a yaw rate gyro. That means it
measures how fast the aircraft is rotating around its vertical axis (yaw—think
nose swinging left or right).
-
It senses
angular rate (turn rate) in yaw
-
Sends that data to the aircraft’s autopilot /
flight computer
-
The system then makes small control corrections
automatically
I ship from the United States, and only to the United States. For any international buyer, I will ship it to eBay’s global shipping center in the United States, and they will trans-ship it to you.
