Garmin GNS 530 non-WAAS GPS NAV-COM. I installed this in my plane a year and a half ago because I couldn't yet afford an IFD540, but had to have something to replace my dead Apollo GPS and dead KX155. This did the trick while also paving the way for the eventual IFD540 slide-in upgrade. That time finally came this year when I removed this unit in working order and replaced it with a new IFD. Maybe you too are in need of a budget GPS NAV-COMM that provides an upgrade roadmap.


Screen works/looks good

Radios clear and strong

Battery was weak on cold days

OBS and CDI buttons required fairly hard pressure when pushing
