From an aviation magazine: The Skymap IIIC was a popular GPS praised for its user-friendly interface (especially the joystick control) and quality 5 inch color display. What it lacks and features (compared to the competition), it more than makes up for in its simple, easy to read display. It includes a full terrain and obstacle database, along with the typical aviation database in street maps.
The resolution is a bit lower than competitors units, but the screen is extremely bright and the user can choose to display data in large, easy to read boxes. Navigating around the screen is a breeze with the joystick. The menus structure and flight planning functions are laid out extremely well and are probably the easiest to use on the market (and the Skymap IIIC will interface nicely with an autopilot). 
This GPS was in operational order in a PAPA-51 Thunder Mustang prior to removal for a full Garmin suite upgrade. Although not recently tested, it was a green tagged by the installation facility, so it is ready to be tested and installed.
