1972 CESSNA 172L REPAIRABLE AIRFRAME, BRAKE LOCKED UP, OFF SIDE OF RUNWAY AND FLIPPED, CHEAP!
THE 172L IS THE FIRST 172 WITH THE NEW ROUND GEAR LEGS WITH AERODYNAMIC FAIRINGS!
THE CURRENT 172S STILL USES ROUND GEAR LEGS!
WITH IT’S SWEPT TAIL, MODERN SEATS AND DASH AND THE SAME COWLING SETUP,
THE 172L HAS THE SAME OVERAL LOOK AS THE 172M AND 172N THAT FOLLOWED IT!
THIS AIRPLANE SUFFERED A BRAKE LOCKUP AFTER LANDING, WHICH CAUSED THE AIRPLANE TO DEPART THE SIDE OF THE RUNWAY INTO THE GRASS!
THE AIRPLANE BOUNCED ON THE NOSE AND TUMBLED FORWARD, ENDING UP ON IT’S BACK!
OF COURSE, BEING ON IT’S BACK IS NOT GOOD FOR THE AIRPLANE, SO DAMAGE RESULTED.
THE TOPS OF BOTH THE VERTICAL FIN AND THE RUDDER ARE WRINKLED.
BOTH WINGS ARE WRINKLED OUTBOARD
THERE IS A DENT ON THE LEFT LOWER COWL SKIN, BUT THE REST OF THE LOWER
COWLING AND NOSEBOWL ARE NOT DAMAGED, AND THE DENT APPEARS IT WOULD
POUND OUT!
SURPRISINGLY, THE AILERONS DO NOT APPEAR TO BE DAMAGED!
AND THE FLAPS, WHICH WERE REMOVED TO GET THE WINGS OFF, ARE STORED INSIDE, UNDAMAGED, AND INCLUDED!
THE LIFT STRUTS ARE ALSO UNDAMAGED!
IN FACT THE OUTBOARD WINGS, VERTICAL/RUDDER, 1 WINGTIP AND THE LOWER COWLING DENT ARE THE ONLY DAMAGE FROM THIS EVENT!!
THE FUSELAGE ITSELF SHOWS NO DAMAGE!!
NO FIREWALL OR BOOTCOLW DAMAGE!
NO DOOR, WINDOWS OR WINDSHIELD DAMAGE!
NO TAILCONE DAMAGE!
THE NOSEGEAR AND MAIN GEAR SHOW NO DAMAGE!!
EVEN THE UPPER COWLING SHOWS NO DAMAGE!
IN A BIG SURPRISE, THE COMM ANTENNAS ON THE TOP OF THE CABIN ARE NOT EVEN BROKEN!
MUST HAVE BEEN A WEIRD ANGLE, AND A LIGHT ROLL OVER!
THE ENGINE WAS SUBJECT TO A PROP STRIKE, SO THE ENGINE, ACCESSORIES, PROP AND SPINNER ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS LISTING!!
THE THROTTLE AND MIXTURE CABLES, ELECTRICAL WIRING AND FIREWALL MOUNTED ITEMS ARE ALL INSTALLED AND INCLUDED.
NO ENGINE MOUNT DAMAGE!
INSIDE, THE TAN CLOTH INTERIOR IS IN GOOD CONDITION, AND EXTRAS INCLUDE
SHOULDER HARNESSES AND A VERTICALLY ADJUSTABLE /ARTICULATING PILOT’S
SEAT IS INSTALLED!
ALL OF THE AVIONICS AND SOME OF THE FLIGHT INSTRUMENTS WERE REMOVED
AFTER THE INCIDENT AND ARE NOT INCLUDED, SO THE DASH PANEL IS INTACT,
BUT WITH AIRSPEED INDICATOR, ALTIMETER AND VSI THE ONLY FLIGHT
INSTRUMENTS.
YOKES, SWITCHES, CIRCUIT PROTECTION, CONTROL CABLES, ETC. ARE ALL STILL INSTALLED!
PAPERWORK INCLUDES AIRFRAME LOG FROM JAN. 1990 TO THE PRESENT (NO MENTION OF LOST EARLY LOGS, BUT WE DIDN’T GET THEM).
LAST ANNUAL LOG ENTRY SHOWS 14,162 TOTAL TIME, AND THE CURRENT TOTAL TIME IS 14,216.
PAPERWORK ALSO INCLUDES THE FAA AIRWORTHINESS CERTIFICATE AND THE FAA BILL OF SALE!
