The picture #23  is what was to be the planned setup or a mirror of what the plan was to be

All the necessary parts and pieces nuts and bolts were gathered to mount the 696 in his Aircraft

in a vacant instrument hole, with the RAM mount

and the GDL-39 hanging from the Ash-tray as pictured using remote antennas.

The only thing behind The pictured 696 is a HOBBS meter.

The GDL-39 manual and the Garmin TECHS do NOT recommend leaving the unit on the dash

In the hot SUN. It will get hot and may shut down, and may shorten it's service life.

The GDL-39 gets better reception with a belly mounted ADSB antenna.

Because, if the unit is setting on the dash the metal of the aircraft will attenuate the signal of the

ground based ADS-B transmitters.

With the ADS-B antenna mounted on the belly, you will get twice as many stations and twice the distance.

Thus the inspection plate with antenna for easy portable removal.

The ADS-B-IN antenna should be at least 2 feet from any Transponder type antenna
