Garmin Aera 500 GPS And Accessories
This GPS was recently removed as part of a panel upgrade. Prior to that it was the primary navigation unit in the aircraft.
Ships in the original box and includes all of the following accessories originally provided from the factory:
1. Aircraft yoke mount.
2. Automotive dashboard mount and interface cradle. This accepts a 12 volt power cord (included) as shown in the photo.
3. Interface cradle with 12 volt power plug. This can be screwed directly to the yoke mount.
4. USB interface cable for database updates.
Also included in the sale are two additional options not originally packaged at the factory:
1. AirGizmos panel mount dock (about $130 new). This dock is molded to allow the interface cradle (#3, above) to nest inside it.
2. Garmin bare wires interface cradle (about $90 from Garmin). This cable will also nest inside the panel dock but allows you to wire the unit into the main aircraft power bus and connect to other interfaced avionics.
The original user and installation manuals are NOT included but are readily available as full color pdf downloads from Garmin.
The databases are not current, as shown in one of the photos, but you can set up your own account through Garmin and establish your own annual subscription. Downloads are fast and apply quickly on a bimonthly cycle.
This is a dual-boot unit so it can be booted into Aviation-mode or Automotive-mode. I have never used the automotive mode so the associated database (a separate subscription) is as it was when the GPS left the factory.
This is a great unit that has served me well for many years.
