You are bidding on one used Soft Comm International intercom, model ATC-4YS. This is a four station stereo general aviation intercom. This is being sold for “parts or not working”. It can be powered by external 12VDC or two internal 9V batteries. An operation instructions manual for this intercom is available online in pdf format.
The two control knobs move smoothly from limit to limit with not catching or roughness. The toggle switch moves smoothly and firmly. I would assess the mechanical workings of this intercom are good. The attached cord is in good condition, it is not cracked or frayed. The cord is well attached to the plugs and the box. There are no breaks or strains where the cord attaches to the box or plugs. I do not have the ability to assess the electronic functionality of this intercom, which is why it is being offered as “parts or not working”. On the other hand, I do not have any reason to believe that this intercom does not work, as like the former owner said “this is junk and does not work”.
The cosmetic condition of this intercom is good. There are scuff marks and dings. All the labels are complete, that is, none of the black paint has flaked off. This intercom is clean, there is only light dust build up in the corners of the black face. For sure it has not been sitting outside in some open shed collecting dust. The battery compartment is clean, nobody left old batteries in it to leak.
