THE M20E IS THE SAME AS THE LOWER POWERED "STANDARD"  M20C IN ALL WAYS, EXCEPT THAT IT WAS MODIFIED TO ACCEPT THE LYCOMING FUEL INJECTED, 200 HORSEPOWER IO-360 ENGINE !!

THE ADDITION OF 200 HORSEPOWER ADDS ABOUT 7-10 KNOTS TO THE CRUISE SPEED, REDUCES THE TAKE-OFF ROLL BY SEVERAL HUNDRED FEET, AND INCREASE THE CLIMB RATE BY 150 FEET PER MINUTE !!

10-12 KNOTS FASTER THAN A PIPER ARROW WITH THE SAME 200 H.P. !

MOONEY NAMED IT THE "SUPER" 21 !!

MOST PEOPLE THAT FLY THE STOCK "E" MODEL ASSUME 150 KNOTS CRUISE.

BUT THIS IS NOT A STOCK "E" MODEL!

IT HAS THE 1 PIECE, SPEED SLOPED "201" WINDSHIELD CONVERSION !!

SINCE THIS IS A 1965 "SUPER", IT ALREADY HAS THE SQUARE SIDE WINDOWS THAT ARE A TRADEMARK OF ALL MOONEYS SINCE, SO ADDING THE "201" WINDSHIELD UPDATES  MAKES IT LOOK LIKE A MUCH NEWER, 201/231 TYPE AIRPLANE !!

BUT NONE OF THIS HELPS WHEN YOU RUN OUT OF OIL !!

THE OWNER OF THIS AIRPLANE HAD THE ANNUAL PERFORMED 1/24/2018.  AT THAT TIME, THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE LEFT MAG WITH AN OVERHAULED UNIT, IN ADDITION TO THE NORMAL INSPECTIONS AND MAINTENANCE.

THE COWLING ON THE MOONEY FITS CLOSE, AND THE 200 H.P. IS A TIGHT FIT IN THAT COWLING, SO THE MAG IS HIDDEN BEHIND A MAZE OF WIRES AND HOSES, AND IT APPEARS THAT ONE OF THE TWO HOSES LEADING TO THE OIL COOLER WAS NOT FULLY TIGHTENED, AND ENROUTE FROM NEW MEXICO TO LUBBOCK TEXAS, ALL OF THE OIL WAS PUMPED OUT THROUGH THE LOOSE FITTING, AND EVENTUALLY THE ENGINE FAILED (HOLE IN THE CASE).

THE PILOT WAS BOTH A LUCKY GUY AND A COOL HEAD.

LUCKY, BECAUSE THE AREA HE WAS FLYING OVER WAS FLAT, AND FULL OF WIDE, PAVED, DESERTED COUNTRY ROADS, AND COOL BECAUSE HE DIDN'T PANIC, JUST LANDED ON ONE OF THE ROADS AS IF IT WERE A RUNWAY, DEADSTICK, AND MADE IT LOOK EASY !!

THIS AIRPLANE HAS BEEN UPGRADED TO ELECTRIC GEAR (FROM THE OLD "JOHNSON BAR" MANUAL GEAR THAT I HATE ON ALL OLDER MOONEYS), AND AS HE HAD PLENTY OF BATTERY POWER, HE SIMPLY FLIPPED THE SWITCH DOWN AND ROLLED OUT ON THE WHEELS !!

HE PARKED IT NEAR A DRIVEWAY OF A LOCAL RANCH, AND IT SAT THERE FINE UNTIL LAST WEEK, WHEN I HAD IT MOVED TO THE LOCAL AIRPORT.

THIS ENTIRE AIRFRAME IS UNDAMAGED !!

IT WAS NOT A GEAR UP LANDING, SO THERE IS NO BELLY DAMAGE

IT WAS NOT A HARD LANDING, SO NO WING OR FIREWALL DAMAGE

IT DIDN'T HIT ANYTHING, ON LANDING OR ON THE ROLL-OUT, SO THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO THE COWL OR ENGINE MOUNT OR WING LEADING EDGES

THERE IS NO HAIL DAMAGE

IT DIDN'T HIT A DEER

THERE IS JUST NO DAMAGE !!!!

THE ENGINE  HAS A HOLE IN IT WHERE IT SHOULDN'T HAVE ONE, AND IS NOT USEABLE, SO WE ARE SELLING IT WITHOUT THE ENGINE OR ACCESSORIES, BUT WE ARE INCLUDING THE COMPLETE, UNDAMAGED EXHAUST SYSTEM, THE AIR BOX, THE OIL COOLER, THE ENGINE SIDE AND TOP BAFFLING, ALL OF THE FUEL AND OIL HOSES, AND THE ELECTRICAL WIRING, UNCUT !!

SO YOU CHOOSE YOUR 200 H.P. ENGINE AND PROP, AND AWAY YOU GO !!

THESE ENGINES ARE READILY AVAILABLE IN THE MARKET, FROM US OR OTHERS, SO YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIND WHAT YOU WANT.

THE AIRPLANE LOOKS GOOD OVERALL, WITH RED ACCENTS AND A BLACK STRIPE

THERE IS A SLIGHT CREASE ON THE TOP OF THE LEFT AILERON THAT HAS BEEN THERE FOR A WHILE (NOT PART OF THIS INCIDENT), THAT OBVIOUSLY IS JUST COSMETIC

THE INTERIOR IS LIGHT GREY LEATHER, AND LOOKS GOOD OVERALL, IF JUST STARTING TO WEAR, AND THE SIDE PANELS HAVE BEEN UPGRADED FROM THE CHEAP LOOKING PLASTIC TO MATCHING CLOTH PANELS.

SOME OF THE RADIO PANEL UNITS AND INDICATORS WERE REMOVED FROM THE TRAYS,  ALONG WITH THE ATTITUDE INDICATOR AND D.G. WHILE IT WAS LEFT SITTING, SO THAT THEY WOULDN'T BE STOLEN, BUT THEY DIDN'T GET RETURNED, SO THEY ARE NOT INCLUDED HERE.

ALL OF THE TRAYS AND WIRING ARE INSTALLED AND INTACT FOR ALL OF THE RADIOS, AND THE HOSES ARE INTACT FOR THE 2 INSTRUMENTS.  THEY WERE NOT CUT OUT, JUST SLID OUT.

THE KMA-24 AUDIO PANEL WITH MARKER BEACONS IS INCLUDED, AND THE P.S. ENGINEERING AUDIO PANEL IS INSTALLED AND WIRED UP TO ALL 4 SEATS.

AS IT WAS, THERE WERE PEOPLE AT THE RANCH MOST DAYS, AND NOBODY MESSED WITH THE AIRPLANE AT ALL, IT IS OTHERWISE COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY INTACT !!

THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED THIS SPRING, SO THE AIRPLANE HAS ONLY BEEN SITTING WEEKS, NOT YEARS !!

IN FACT IT IS STILL IN CALENDAR ANNUAL UNTIL 2/1/2019 !!

THIS IS A GREAT PROJECT, BECAUSE IT HAS NO AIRFRAME DAMAGE AT ALL !!

SITTING PRETTY  ON A TIEDOWN AT THE YOAKUM COUNTY AIRPORT, NEAR PLAINS, TEXAS, WHICH IS A PRETTY SMALL AIRPORT, USED MOSTLY BY A FEW CROP DUSTERS.

THE RIGHT TIRE IS FLAT, AND WAS MOVED ON THE FLAT, BUT DOESN'T APPEAR CUT, SO IT PROBABLY NEEDS JUST AIR, BUT AT THE WORST A TUBE.

WE HAVE THE LOGBOOKS FOR THE AIRFRAME BACK TO 1971, WHERE IT WAS EXPORTED TO CANADA FOR A WHILE AND EVERYTHING FROM 1971 FORWARD IS INTACT TO 2018. 

LOTS OF OTHER PAPERWORK INCLUDED, LIKE AD COMPLIANCE SHEETS, OWNERS MANUAL, POH, 337'S AND WEIGHT AND BALANCE INFO.

PLUS THE FAA BILL OF SALE AND FAA AIRWORTHINESS CERTIFICATE.

IT WILL NEED YOUR CHOICE OF ENGINE AND PROP, SO GO CHEAP, OR FIND A NICE LOW TO MID TIME USED ON, OR INSTALL A FACTORY ENGINE, AND HAVE THE AIRPLANE YOU WANT, AT A PRICE THAT MAKES SENSE.
