THE "F" IS THE LAST OF THE AZTEC LINE, WITH ALL OF THE MODIFICATIONS AND UPDATES PIPER HAD DEVISED OVER THE 20 YEAR PRODUCTION RUN OF THE PA-23 SERIES.


WHAT STARTED AS THE SLOW AND STUBBY APACHE 150 BECAME THE LARGER, LONGER, SLEEKER AND MUCH FASTER AZTEC 250.


THE LONG POINTY NOSE WITH FAIRED IN LANDING LIGHT VISUALLY LENGTHENS THE FUSELAGE, WHILE IMPROVING THE AERODYNAMICS AND INCREASING CRUISE SPEED


THE EXTRA SPACE UP FRONT ALSO ADDS A LARGE BAGGAGE COMPARTMENT


EARLY AZTECS SUFFERED FROM A LACK OF FUEL, BUT THIS AIRPLANE IS EQUIPPED WITH THE FACTORY LONG RANGE FUEL TANKS, FOR 184 GALLONS TOTAL, SO GAS IS NOT A PROBLEM


THE EARLY AIRPLANES HAD NO AUTOPILOT, OR AN ANTIQUATED ONE.


THIS AIRPLANE HAS THE ALTIMATIC IIIC, WHICH IS FUNCTIONALLY THE SAME AS THE EXCELLENT CENTURY III.  (DIFFERENT FACEPLATE). THIS SYSTEM PROVIDES WING LEVELING, HEADING BUG AND RADIO COUPLING ON THE ROLL AXIS, WITH GLIDESLOPE COUPLING, VERTICAL SPEED SELECT, AUTOMATIC AND MANUAL PITCH TRIM ALONG WITH ALTITUDE HOLD ON THE PITCH SIDE.


THIS IS A TRUE 6 PLACE AIRPLANE, WITH 4 BUCKETS AND A COMFORTABLE REAR BENCH, AND A HIGH ENOUGH USEFUL LOAD TO USE THEM !!


THIS AIRPLANE WAS USED BY THE FBO BASED AT THE DAVENPORT IOWA AIRPORT IN THIER PART 135 CHARTER FLEET FOR MANY YEARS, WITH IMPECCABLE MAINTENANCE  BUT HAS NOT BEEN CHARTER FLOWN IN THE LAST 2 YEARS.


STILL USED BY THE FBO, IT WAS LAST ANNUALED ON 07/15/2016.  NOT A SITTER, IT IS STILL IN CALENDAR ANNUAL !!


UNFORTUNATELY, THE AIRPLANE WAS PARKED OVERNIGHT ON A TIE-DOWN SPOT WHEN THE AIRPORT GOT A LITTLE SNOW THIS WINTER.


A PICK-UP TRUCK WITH A PLOW ON IT WAS CLEARING THE TAXIWAY IN FRONT OF THIS AIRPLANE, AND BACKED UP UNDERNEATH THE LEFT WING.  HE DIDNT SEE THE AIRPLANE, AND APPARENTLY DIDNT REMEMBER JUST SEEING IT BECAUSE HE BACKED UP WITHOUT EVEN TRYING TO BRAKE BEFORE HIS TAILGATE HIT THE WING. THE FBO GOT THE WHOLE THING ON SECURITY VIDEO.


THE DAMAGE THAT WAS SUSTAINED WAS TO THE LEFT WING OUTBOARD AND THE LEFT AILERON ONLY !!!


NO DAMAGE WAS SUSTAINED TO ANY OF THE REST OF THE AIRFRAME !!


NO DAMAGE TO RIGHT WING OR CONTROL SURFACES  DEICE BOOTS LOOK GOOD


NO DAMAGE TO THE FUSELAGE, CABIN, TAIL OR TAIL SURFACES. DEICE BOOTS LOOK GOOD


NO DAMAGE TO ANY OF THE LANDING GEAR.  THE AIRPLANE DID NOT SPIN, SO THE GEAR WAS NOT SIDE LOADED.


ALL OF THE GEAR DOORS ARE GOOD


THE FLAP AND INBOARD PORTION OF THE WING ARE OK.  IN FACT, THE REPAIR AGENCY PLANNED TO JUST REPLACE THE SHEET METAL ON THE OUTBOARD SECTION OF THE WING, NOT REPLACE THE WHOLE WING.


INSIDE, ALL SEATS ARE INTACT, BUT THE FRONTS ARE WORN (THEY HAD BEEN USED WITH COVERS, WHICH ARE NOT INCLUDED).  THE MIDDLES AND BACK SEAT ARE MUCH BETTER.


THE DASH IS CLEAN AND MODERN, AS YOU WOULD EXPECT A 1977 MODEL TWIN TO BE.


THE 3 AXIS AUTOPILOT SYSTEM IS INTACT AND FUNCTIONAL, AS ARE THE ENTIRE DASH WORTH OF INSTRUMENTS AND GUAGES, AND THE FOLLOWING AVIONICS:

BENDIX B&W RADAR SYSTEM, WHICH MEANS THE AIRPLANE HAS A RADAR NOSE

NORTHSTAR M3 GPS SYSTEM WITH IFR ANNUCIATOR PANEL

KING AUDIO PANEL WITH MARKER BEACONS

KING ADF SYSTEM WITH RMI INDICATOR

THERE ARE ALSO TRAYS INCLUDED AND WIRED FOR 2 KING NAV-COMS AND A KING TRANSPONDER, BUT THOSE PANEL UNITS ARE NOT INCLUDED



BOTH ENGINES WERE PROFESSIONALLY REMOVED AFTER THE INCIDENT, AND ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS SALE.  THE ENGINE MOUNTS AND HOSES, CABLES AND ELECTRICAL ARE STILL INSTALLED AND INCLUDED, BUT THE ENGINES, ACCESSORIES AND PROPS ARE NOT.


THIS AIRFRAME IS BEING SOLD INTACT, COMPLETE AS SHOWN.
